Membership, Play Options
and Protocols
If it’s your first visit to NHPBC at the Barfoot & Thompson Netball Centre, we’re excited to see you! Before heading out to the courts, please stop by the entrance desk at the Onewa Arena to register. Scheduled sessions will run daily indoors; a pay to play offering is available for casual drop-in play and yearly/quarterly Memberships can be purchased.
There is a lounge area/eatery that can be utilised by pickleball players onsite.
There are toilets and showers, which can also be utilised.
Balls are provided for sessions and paddles are available to rent – $5.00. Daily drop-in fee $15.00 per session.
After becoming a Member, you are welcome to book courts privately (both
indoor and outdoor) in and around session times and other sport play in the Arena; the outdoor courts are generally available all year round. Members can have unlimited access to participating in specific sessions of their choice. There is plenty of seating available in the Arena. Remember to bring plenty of water and be sure to hydrate before you arrive. There are taps that can be utilised throughout the facility both inside and outside.
Levels
Levels are divided as follows: 1.0-2.5 (Beginner), 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 (Intermediate) and
4.5 (Experienced).
Levels will be monitored to achieve the optimal balance of players per court during session and game times.
Membership
Access to the venue will be 24/7 for Members.
Arena Courts are available outside scheduled pickleball sessions and other scheduled arena sports events – refer here.
Outside Courts are generally available all year around (excl netball season warm up times during Saturdays). Flood lighting will be enhanced for night time play – date TBD. Daylight saving months will allow for play to approximately 9pm.

Guests of members for private booking $20
Note: Courts can be “reserved” at our facility by members only. A member can invite guests who will need to pay $20 for 2hrs of play. Non-members must pay online in advance of play.
